Cancer kills Malcolm Wicks, age 65

It was with great sadness that we in the local Green Party heard the news of Malcolm Wicks' death. Although we disagreed on some policy isssues, such as the war in Iraq and the new generation nuclear power stations, he was never less than gracious towards us. As a rival candidate, he was unfailingly polite and always took the time to come and chat to us, whether at a street stall or at a hustings event. Many of the people we have canvassed over the years in North Croydon spoke warmly of Malcolm and appreciated the help he had offered them. He was a hard working Member of Parliament, much loved by his constituents. On behalf of the Croydon Green Party, we would like to send our condolences to his family and friends, and to all the people of the Croydon North constituency.
Bernice Golberg and Shasha Khan, on behalf of the Croydon Green Party
